Dear Zoe(y) Hart.  You are wrong. The vet has a weird nose. George is a namby pamby. GO TO WADE.  Unless you being with not Wade will make him be with me in which case, go forth and frolic, stupid shorts wearing one!

Dear Johnny. Cash's level of arrogant know it all ness cannot be overcome by her being 'chums' with Adele. Go where the cupcakes are, idiot!

Dear Robin.  WTF. Also a wtf at the writers because, really, with the asking two guys oh so pitifully how can you possibly like meee.  No.  You do not do that to Barney.  Bad Robin with the still terrible hairstyle, bad.

Am gunning for you now, Tuesday night TV.  Do not let me down Gleegirlraisehood combo!  Seriously, please don't.  The TV can only take so much more of my wrath.

My new favorite thing

A few weeks ago, the always lovely Lauren from Aspiring Kennedy posted about a trip she took to Paris. In said post, she featured her amazing shoes and then later offered a few pairs up in one of her Foursale promotions.

I was scrolling through Twitter while brushing my teeth one morning and saw her link to the sale.  I figured if I waited by the time I got to work, they'd be gone so while the Sonicare buzzed forgotten against my gum line, I pulled up her site and saw that the other three sizes were gone but the 38s were still there.  That's my size!  Frantically jabbed at the checkout with paypal button and promised instant death wishes to my phone should it choose this instance to lose connection.  Of course I couldn't change the address from the default of my parents but, fine.  Worst case, they'd be waiting for me come Christmas.  Checked out, did a jig and went off to work.  Emailed Lauren who very graciously let me update my address information and over the weekend, they arrived.

TV Ruminations

As I was trying to fall asleep last night after staying up far too late re-reading a book so I could read the other books that I hadn't gotten to yet so I could fully appreciate the newest released which I'm told is the best book ever (follow that logic?), my mind wound itself down thinking about TV.  Whatever works?

CMAs - My love of TSwizzle aside, I don't particularly get too much into country music.  But, I do enjoy awards shows, and I particularly enjoy reading about them the day after because whenever I don't watch, something gasp worthy happens, so the DVR was set and even though I started watching at 945, with my fastforwarding, I caught up to it in real time.  Dear Nicole Kidman, take a chill pill dearie.  Tim and Faith laughed about the Barbie comparisons, you can too.  Also, you got to be the Little Mermaid Barbie.  Lucky!

Parenthood - OH, SHOW.  Why do you give me an enjoyable hour every week and then wrench my heart out at the end?  Dear Amber, I get where you're coming from but not cool, sugarplum.  Loved the scene between Julia and Christina with the dress.  Would that I could sprawl across a bed so effortlessly.  Kudos Erika Christensen.

FNL - Am I the only one who still regularly re-watches the highlights of the final episode?  My favorite moment is when Matt is at the door and Tami is helping him say Julie and Coach is just looking back and forth all wtf.

HIMYM - I can't even muster up the energy.  Please recover from this downward spiral of horrible, show.  (Though yay Barney and Robin!!)

This whole fall finale thing is beginning to irk me.  I get that with 52 week and 22 shows, the majority of the time there aren't going to be new episodes.  However.  The logic seems to be that everyone is busy and traveling and partypartyparty from mid November to February sweeps and while I anticipate having several holiday events to go to, who are these people who are off gallivanting on every Tuesday between now and Valentine's Day?  Dear TV, in the winter, when it's cold and icy out, am sitting on my couch in fuzzy socks flipping channels.

Excuse Me

I had to stop and get gas this morning on my way into work and grumbled as I pulled in to the one with the higher cost because it's on the way to the office.  I was only going to put in a few dollars and then head over to the cheaper one on my way home (I had to get back for Tilly last night).  I'm the only car at the station and right after I swipe my card I hear "excuse me?"  I must have looked startled when I turned around because this woman was suddenly all I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.  She tells me she's not asking for any money but she's wondering if I could possibly give her a ride to jail.

Wait, what?

Apparently her sister was going in front of a judge this morning and she wanted to go and talk to her lawyer before the appointment (arraignment?) but her car broke down and by the time the bus shows up she'll have missed it.  In my brilliance, my response was I don't know where the jail is.  She assured me she knew where it was, she'd been there once before with her sister (ouch).  Ok then.  So I have to make a left out of the station (perilous at most times but thankfully was clear) and we head over to the jail.  As she's giving me direction, I realize where she's talking about and exclaim that I know where it is, I drive by there all the time on my way to Target.  Really there, self?

We get to jail [in with other county buildings so it's not like I've been driving by jail for 10 years and just never noticed] and I drop her off and ask if she's alright getting back to her car - which, she told me, had a problem with the oil pan that caused the engine to seize - and she said sure, she'd just take the bus. I felt a bit like a heel, her day is clearly more difficult than mine but I'm essentially inept when it comes to cars and car repairs so it's not like I'd be of much help.  She assured me she was fine so I dropped her off and headed into work.

And that's how I picked up a hitchhiker and went to jail.

And it's done.  My 4 month long experiment into the world of online dating comes to an end today.

Stated goal: To be able to say I've dated since D.  Mission accomplished!

Actual goal: Fairy tale romance and twu luvvvvv.  Mission failed!

Overall am ambivalent about the whole thing.  I talked to a few nice people, met a couple, got to flex my dating muscle.  Had a few weeks where the pattern of I sent them questions, they archive me became more than a little frustrating but such is the way of things.

In the future I may try again, probably with one of the free ones to compare. But for now, am taking a holiday break and going back to meeting people the old-fashioned way.  Like at a coffee shop or the grocery store. I imagine in short order I'll have plenty of Lifetime and Hallmark Channel holiday movies to try and recreate.

But I cannot forget the greatest of all my EH takeaways: the best worst date story.  I see winning many bar bets in my future.  And that's something to sing about.

Minor Quibble

I'm loving Once Upon a Time on Sunday nights.  A quibble that irks me though.  Prince Charming is Cinderella's prince.  Snow White's prince was nameless or referred to as Snow White's Prince.  Now, I haven't gone back to the original Grimm fairy tales to see what was the case but my fairy tale foundation is all things Disney whatever Mickey says, goes.  And a quick Wiki search seems to be back me up.  Why, show?

Hmmph Day

This day. This day. This year week, really.

Rather than launch into a litany of whine, am seeking some things out to de-furrow my brow.

Southern Comfort Apple Pie?  Yep, I think I will.

Witch's Brew spiced wine?  As soon as it's 5pm.

I went to bed last night with a niggling feeling of forgetting to do something.  But there hadn't been trick or treaters, I didn't forget to brush my teeth, door was locked...must be nothing.

Started getting into a new book (Dreams of a Dark Warrior by Kresley Cole, and damn why do I keep picking books where bad things happen to the characters for many hundreds of pages) when suddenly it clicked that, oh yeah, Mom and Dad's anniversary.

It was before midnight so I shot a quick text to both their phones and went back to the book.

Thought about it more on the way in and realized they've been married 35 years.

Well done, parents.
